Redesign the mobile menu drawer: top section is search bar, then grouped nav (Shop sections, Account, Customer Service), promotional callout in the middle, and a 'Track order' shortcut at the bottom. Slide in from the left, full height.
- Search bar at the top — the highest-intent action.
- Grouped nav sections (Shop / Account / Help).
- Promotional callout slot.
- Quick 'Track order' link at the bottom.
What you're trying to do
Default Shopify mobile menus are one long list of links. Real shoppers think in groups: 'I want to shop', 'I want to check my order', 'I need help'. Grouped sections make the menu navigable on the first glance instead of requiring scan-and-tap.
Things to watch out for
- Drawer width: Fudge sizes for one-thumb reach on most phones.
- Scroll lock: the page behind stops scrolling while the drawer is open.
- Back gesture: the drawer closes on a swipe left or the system back gesture.
- Animation: a clean slide-in without stutter.
How Fudge does it
Fudge duplicates your live theme into a draft, builds the section as an editable Shopify section with the placement and behavior your prompt requires, and wires it to your real product data and brand styling. Everything starts in draft — preview on your store, tweak via the Theme Editor, and publish only when you're ready. Your live store stays untouched.
Why mobile menu drawer design matters more than desktop nav
Most mobile menus are afterthoughts: the same dropdown, just bigger. The redesign treats the mobile drawer as a primary surface: search bar at top, grouped navigation, promotional callout, “track order” shortcut.
When this is worth building
Build the redesigned drawer for any store with meaningful mobile traffic (most stores). Skip if your mobile traffic is tiny.
What makes one great
- Search at the top — most shoppers know what they want.
- Grouped navigation — Shop sections, Account, Customer Service. Visual hierarchy.
- Promotional callout in the middle — surface seasonal pushes.
- ‘Track order’ at the bottom — high-frequency support need.
- Full-height slide-in — uses the screen real estate.
Pair this with prominent search bar in nav and mobile UX audit.
